Getting Ready for the Holiday Hype

Hi everyone!

So I am preparing for all the Christmas Hype. In reality I am preparing to talk to Jason over the computer on Christmas Eve. It will be the ultimate highlight of my holiday.

Lately his internet has been sketchy coming on and off. So I hope our chances to talk on Christmas Eve is going to work out.

I took some pictures of me and the Christmas Cards I have recieved from you all.

Keep Jason in your prayers this holiday season and pray for me as I travel a bit.

Love you,
Jenna and Jason

The meaning of sacrifice

A Different Christmas Poem
The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,
Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.
"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"

For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
"I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.

Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."
"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."
Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S. service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us.

It our Anniversary

Yea!!! It has been one year! :)

Jason was able to call this morning and we got to talk for about 30 mins. It was so very nice to hear his voice. We then met up online for a little online date before he went to bed. I am so blessed to have such a loving man in my life.

Patty and Harry also called me this morning with a lovely rendition of Happy Anniversary. :) I will remember that always!

Thank you everyone and may you continue to pray for Jason and I as we continue on with the next year of our marriage.

Jenna and Jason

4 days till it is 1 year!

Hello everyone,

Yes I am a slacker. I have been so very busy with school that I have not had the time to post anything...in well Forever!

However, today I found out that I am exempt from taking 2 of my 3 finals! So with much cheer and joy in my heart I thought I would share that with you all!

I will have straight A's again this semester despite the tears :)

Jason is doing well in his little sandbox. I hope that most of you have recieved our Christmas Cards.

In 4 days (Sat Dec 15th) Jason and I will celebrate our 1 year Wedding Anniversary! We are both so excited to have made it past another milestone in life. We are both also excited because that means he is closer to coming home!

As you can see I still went out and got a Christmas tree and decorated. Buddy is doing pretty well not climbing it. However, he does eat the branches in protest. I have also found a few ornaments around the house but now that it has been up awhile he is getting better. I hope you all have a great holiday and since I am off from school for a month I will be sure to try and post on here a little more frequently!

Hugs and Kisses,
Jason and Jenna

Catching some flack!

Hi everyone,

Well I have been told I am slacking in the area of blogging so I will give you all the breif update of Jason's and my life.

Jason is still in Iraq...just in case anyone forgot. He isn't due home until March or April but, after Petreaus' speech I believe in my heart he might be home in Decemeber (so everyone pray hard) His daily routine is pretty mundane and he is keeping busy by working out and playing video games and watching movies with the guys. Their personal internet was down just until a couple of weeks ago so he and I were limited to a phone call a week and emails when he could from work.

I am battling some silly health issues again..as I went to the Army clinic and told them I had the pain in my right side back. The doctor finally took and X-ray and to everyone's surprise...I was full of _hit. You fill in the blank. So I have been on laxatives for a little over a week with one more week to go. They think I may have an obstruction or delayed bowel emptying...which...if any Stephens out there can tell me how to fix it please send me a note.

The good news for me however is that I have been invited into Phi Theta Kappa which is the honor society for two year colleges. I get inducted on Oct 25th :)

I have also had some fun decorating out little apt for the up coming holidays as Harvest Time is one of the Best times of the year....and I am a year older as of Sept 7th :)

Buddy our pride and joy of a cat has found a new hobby in the house...he is the bug killer. Which is a good job for him when Jason is gone. Buddy also has found a cute costume to wear for Halloween. It depicts his personality to the T. I will attach a picture for you all to see.

Other than that no new news. School has kept me pretty busy so I don't get on here much but I will try to post something again soon...especially if I hear Jason will be home ;)

Love you all,

Jason and Jenna

Total Bliss

Jason is here with me and it feels so good to have him home. You don't realize the little things in life that are fun to do until your loved one is with you. Just sitting and watching TV is sweet these days :)

"Glad to be home, with my wife" from Jason. We are both looking forward to our little vacation in SD!

See you all soon,

In Atlanta!!

Hi everyone!

Jason is in Atlanta! He has been there since this morning. He won't be flying into Fville till 10 pm tonight. So I pray that God will allow one of the standby options to open up.

I am so excited to see him. I even cleaned again this morning...the poor carpet is looking like it hates the vac.

Well the hardest part now is to wait....he is only a 3 hour drive away...and I have to wait 12 hours! Crazy!

We will be seeing everyone soon!

YEAAAAAAAAAA He is in the USA!

We've been married for 6 months!

Hi everyone!

The 15th was Jasons and my 6 month mark to our first year of marriage. For everyone who said the first year was the hardest! Ha it was pretty easy! Jason is a doll he doesn't leave messes for me or nothing :) Ok well it is hard without him here but for the most part we have learned a lot about eachother and continue to as the days go one.

The other good news is Jason will be home in....about 25 DAYS!!! I am so excited!

Today when Jason and I spoke he said he was feeling a little under the weather with a sore throat and such. It could be that he hasn't been getting much sleep and working long hours. So everybody pray that he is feeling better when he returns for R and R so that he can have a good time.

He also sent me a new picture of him. He said he doesn't have his helmet on because he is on another base (no excuse right Marsha!) But he does look pretty sexy in this photo I have to say :)

Enjoy and we will be seeing you all soon!

From Jason: ..."tonight (5 june, 1900) at our evening meeting, i was "pinned" with the rank Captiain (O-3, CPT)." Yea!!!! He went on to describe some of the pictures: ..." i was raising my right hand in some of them b/c my battalion commander adminsters the oath of office to all officers he promotes."

I am attaching some of the pictures so everyone can enjoy them! We are all so proud of him!Doesn't he looks so cute (Handsome) in the pictures too ;)

Hockey in Iraq!

Hi all!

I heard from Jason today and he provided me with a picture. The group of guys he works with daily all got together with NJ Devils hats (that's a hockey team for all who don't know) and they are going to send the picture to the NJ Devils. Maybe they will make the paper in NJ :) But in the mean time I thought you guys could preview it.

Jason and I are getting very excited about out trip to SD coming up soon! I know I am so looking forward to seeing him. We are also looking forward to seeing everyone in SD!

However, I first must get through the summer semester which is proving to be a challenge. I am sure I can do it but there is a lot of work.

My health seems to be improving with diet and exercise. Jason is liking the improvements to the new me. :) As am I.

I hope everyone is doing well. We both miss you all!

Love you!

Starting Summer School!

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to say Congrats to Jacob! He is growing up so fast :)

Second I wanted to let everyone know that Jason is doing well and is looking forward to coming home in July. We talk every other day and he keeps me posted on what's going on. The biggest thing now is it is starting to get really hot over there. I know he is having a problem with sweaty feet so if someone would like to send him things to help his feet that would be great. Cause those big things won't get near me if they are stinky!

I am about to start summer school tomorrow. I finished the last semester with a 4.0 :) which was great. I didn't think I had done that well.

As far as my health goes they still are unsure about the pain in my right side. They did a test but said my surgical clips blocked their view. So I am going to try some home medicine to see if I can get it to stop and the doctor will monitor my blood work. If it doesn't work I will transfer care to Duke Medical which is a great facility. So pray that things work themselves out :)

Hope everyone has a great summer and I will keep you posted on how this semester goes. And of course will keep you all posted when Jason visits home.

For now here is an updated photo of our little Buddy. Who I have found out tries to flush the toilet and likes to be vacuumed.

Love you all,
Jenna and Jason

Happy 26th Birthday to JASON!

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much if you were able to send Jason a Happy Birthday Greeting! He said he had a good day today but no one there knew it was his Birthday....better planning for next time on my part! The Chow Hall will have signs next deployment :)

Jason was also able to send me a new photo that I will be sure to attach here. I don't know much about the photo just that it seems like he is standing in a Market Place of sorts.

As for me thank you all for keeping me in your prayers when you pray for Jason and the Troops.

Love ya!

It's been awhile!

Hello everyone!

I apologize for not writing sooner. I am going to try and make an honest effort to journal every Sunday.

Jason is doing well. Earlier this month his Unit had some people wounded. Jason was fine but it was still hard for everyone to handle. Especially me. I know that war isn't easy but I guess because we had been able to talk pretty regularly that things were ok. Either way Jason and I both have talked through it and are pushing forward. The stronger I am the better he his. So please just keep him and his troops in your prayers. They need it :)

From what I can tell by talking to Jason he is enjoying all the packages greatly and shares (more than I thought) with the other soliders! He often doesn't get much time and so on behalf of him he said to THANK YOU ALL for your LOVE and SUPPORT!

Jason's birthday is also approaching and if everyone could join with me in sending him an ECard I would appreciate it! I think he would be surprised and very happy!

Finals in school are soon for me and I am a little anxious. We have had two professors quit and several people stand in. So pray I do well since no one knows my grades.

Other than that Jason is expected to be home for R and R sometime in July and FOR NOW unless the Army changes their mind for good sometime in Feb 2008. The 15 month ext has not changed their date. Pray it stays that way :) In July we will spend several days here in Fayetteville and then about 10 days in CA! We are looking forward to staying on the beach and being with family and friends.

Hope everyone is doing well! Love you all and God Bless!

Jason and Jenna

April Fools

So it has offically been awhile since I posted something so I thought I would come on and give you all a little run down.

Jason and I are able to chat at least for 5 mins almost everyday! Most days we talk for about 30 mins but if he wants to hang out with the guys to watch movies or play games then it is just a quick HI Love you BYE. However, I am very happy about this because it keeps me some what in the loop I call his life. The other nice thing is we are able to webcam and I can see him smiling etc. It makes me feel really good. But to be honest I would give anything to hear his voice.

School for me is going ok. The whole Respiratory Program is up in the air because the two full time teachers quit. So now we have three PT teachers and they won't even tell us our grades! So I am a little afraid at the quality of the program....

Buddy our little addition to the family is also doing very well. My family came to visit last weekend and Buddy met my dads dog. They seemed to get along pretty well. Buddy of course wanting to be a little more friendly than Patch (who has been teased by cats before)

Other than that there isn't much new to report! Jason will be having his 26th Birthday soon!!! YEAAA Easter is around the bend and I am praying ever so hard that July comes quickly! (July is when Jason gets his R and R time!)

Please keep us both in your prayers

Love,
Jason and Jenna

Video Date :)

Hi everyone!

I have just returned from my visit to the west! I had a lovely time with Gerrie, Jacob and Josh. I really had a great time catching up with some of Jason's and my favorite people! (Nelson's and Zounes')

Jason was able to get online today and I was able to talk and see him on webcam! We were delayed a lot so he was laughing at things I had said 2 mins prior but that is ok at least I got to hear his voice! He looks great. He has huge arms much like our young Josh! I was just really excited to see him since it has been about 2 months.
He told me we wouldn't be able to talk everyday but he would try to make the effort to be consistant! What a guy! He is such and awesome husband. He is also looking forward to the video's of everyone from CA.

I am attaching some pictures of the trip. Unfortunately JOSH we didn't get a picture together! However, Jacob you will love me for this :)

New member of the Family...ITS A BOY

Jason and I would like to announce a new member of our family....We collectively are still working on a name but here is his first picture!

I am also glad to report that Jason is doing well and recieving boxes! He finally sent me a picture of himself today so I will post that as well.

Here is what he emailed me about the pictures:

"...pics of ME when i went out on a op a few days ago. the big
blue thing is a monument called the martyr's monument fairly close to where
i am."

Here is some other information I found out about the monument:

The Shaheed Monument, opened in 1983, commemorates Iraqi soldiers killed in the Iran-Iraq war. Muhammad at-Turki's elegant martyr's monument is a circular platform 190 meters in diameter, that sits in the middle of a huge artificial lake. It features an enormous turquoise tiled dome, resembling those topping Baghdad's mosques. The dome is split down the middle, with the two halves offset, and the walls of the dome sheltering an eternal flame. A national memorial in honour of Iraqi war heroes on a site comprising green areas, a children's playground, car parks, walkways and bridges, and a lake. Amid the lake is an island of two circular platforms - one above the other - on which the monument is set. The monument is a 40m shell split in two and slided to form an inverted and disjoined S in plan. Inside one of the dome shells is a circular water pool that cascades its contents to the courtyard below. The structure built on two levels under the platform comprises: a museum, a library, a cafeteria, lecture hall, exhibition gallery and support facilities. The shells are constructed of a galvanised steel frame with glazed ceramic tile cladding pre-cast in carbon fiber reinforced concrete.

I hope everyone is doing well! Jason and I both are so happy for all the support and love you all have shown us.

God Bless,
Jenna and Jason

Valentine's Day

My husband is the best!!!! Jason sent me a Willow Tree statue for Valentine's and a very sweet ecard. I even got a phone call from Iraq!

So the day came and went and even though we are apart Jason was able to bring the biggest smile to my face. I think it is so great to know that I am loved by this man so much and I love him so much. To share that with eachother is the best feeling in the world!

Well it has been a long week so I am off to bed. I am posting a picture of me and the statue he sent.

Updated

Hi all!

I had emailed Jason about the sheet idea and he said it would be one more thing for him to clean so although the thought was good...he can live without. ;)

I am at work and typing while I am half tired so that is all of a post for now. I may come back and add to this but if not...you are seeing me at my best (ha ha ha j/k)

Valentine's Day is approaching

Hi everyone,

Just a little update in the drama of life. A lot went on this past week and Jason being the best man in the world called me! Yes that means I heard his voice. Although I wish our converstation was more of a lovey conversation it was still good to talk about the things we did get to talk about.

He seems to be doing well and is looking forward to everyone sending boxes. He told me he is sleeping on a cot right now but he might be getting a bunk bed and mattress soon. Maybe...someone could send him old twin bed sheets :)...just and idea and if he doesn't get a bunk bed he can use them to be a ghost on Halloween! (If he read this he would be shaking his head I can see it now :-P)

He told me I would be recieving a box in the mail shortly and I am not to open it until Valentine's Day. I got the BOXXXX!!! I really want to open it but I am holding back. I put it under the dining room table so I couldn't see it. I can fight the urge better that way. Lets hope I remember it is there on V-Day!

Well that is our little update for now. As always thank you for your prayers and keep them coming!

Jenna and Jason

Hummm Fire

Hi everyone!

I sent Jason a box today! I get so excited when I do! I try to put a lot of thought into them so that it isn't just silly things or everyday items. I hope he likes it. I also sent him little video clips of me talking to him. Today, I was filming and had put a log in the fire place and forgot to open the vent and all of a sudden smoke was filling the room. So on film you see me talking and then going ohhh ohhh ohhh...I am sure Jason is going to laugh so hard. Maybe :)

The house didn't burn down nor did the smoke detector go off...which makes me a little concerned..hummmm

Well I just wanted to share my blooper with everyone and tell you all thanks for your prayers and thoughts. Jason and I both appreciate it.

Love,
Jenna and Jason

Updates

Hi!

For all our readers (Marsha and Uncle Bill and Aunt Karen) Apperently more than one person checks on us daily :) I heard from Jason today. He has been pretty busy with work which is good because it means time I hope is going by quickly. He seems to be in good spirits. He told me earlier in the week he felt like he was in a rut but changed his tune after a few days. I am trying to get some pictures from him to post up here but he is unable to use his personal computer. So I have decided to mail him a blank CD in hopes that he will mail it back with somethings on it I can share with you all.

As for me school is going ok. For some reason I can't seem to get the grades I want but I am sure it will pick up.

Please keep us both in your prayers!

Address

Hi everyone,

I know I have emailed the majority of you all with Jason's address. For those of you who I haven't I am posting it here along with the RETURN address you MUST use. The military is being strick on this because they do not want OUR (yours and my) personal address getting into the wrong hands.

1 LT James, Jason
HHC\ 1-504 PIR
2BCT 82ND ABN
UNIT# 41556
FOB LOYALTY
APO AE 09390-1556

Return Address:
1 Lt James, Jason
HHC 1/504 PIR
Ft. Bragg NC 28310

Jason is doing just fine he is at his final destination. They made it there all safe and sound. He does have access to the internet but we have yet to find out if he can get it in his room. He right now has to wait in line and is only allowed on for 30 mins at a time. The last I spoke with him was on Thurs morning...so I don't know much of anything else. I know that they will probably be pretty busy for a little while getting to know their jobs and the mission etc.

As far as carepackages go pack him what ever you all would like: I emailed some suggestions but really you can pack him whatever you like just try to avoid chocolate, because it will melt.

I hope everyone is safe and sound. Until next time :)

One Month to the Day and Hour :)

Hello all,

I am writing just to share that today is our 1 month anniversary! I am very excited about this! Though in the scheme of things it may seem trivial that it has only been one month for our marriage. I would like to say that I am the happiest woman on earth. I am so happy to be Jason's wife and look forward to many more months, days and years as such!
I hope everyone is doing well and I am glad some of you had today off from work...it being our 1 month anniversary the government decided you all didn't have to work isn't that nice :)

God Bless,

First Day of Clinicals

Hello everyone!

I last spoke to Jason yesterday in the morning he was feeling a little under the weather so some pick me up prayers maybe in order. I also told him to take his airborne :) I can only imagine sleeping next to so many people getting sick is probably pretty easy.
Today I started my clinicals...well not really we got our clinical assignment and we start in two weeks. I am excited because at first I was placed with someone I didn't know but now I have been placed with a mix of people and with Andrew on days that we have to drive to Dunn. The furthest I will be going this year is an hour away. To me that is still crazy far.
I have a picture of me in my uniform to post but the camera says it is damaged so I will have to retake it. When I do I will post it under this blog.
I am getting very excited to see Kerry and Gerrie and everyone else for the bridal shower! Maybe because I have to sit home and not talk...so when you all get here I can talk everyone's ear off :)
Well that is all for now. As I am sure you have seen on the news and with President Bush's speech the troops will be moving into Iraq. When? Not sure. Where...well if you listened to the speech then you know. For now lets all pray for God to keep them safe and when Jason gets us an address we can start sending the care over!

Love you!
Jenna and Jason

I miss you Jas oxoxo

Another Day :)

Hi everyone,

Just writing to update you all. Jason and I have been able to talk on several occasions now and I am very grateful for that. I can't say there has been regularity to it because well he works for the Army.
Other than that I go back to work tonight fun fun fun... and as long as I return to my car in the morning and it is still there the world will be a happy place.
I will be starting school on Wed which I am looking forward to but I also wanted to tell you all I will be attending an FRG meeting on the 11th. I will try to inform you all of what I can but I do need to limit what I can say so...stay tuned :)

God Bless and Hope you all are well!

Day three yeaaa for me

Hello all,

I seem to be able to post something everyday but when I start to have a life again next week it won't be as often...sorry :)
I was able to see Jason today again on instant messanger. This time I got to talk to him. He was in a room with a lot of people so he didn't want to say anything back. But he said he loved hearing my sweet voice (hee hee you can tell we are newly weds) The feed was a little slow so when I was talking it was breaking up. So typing and getting to just see each other on webcam works just as well for us. I noticed that he got his hair cut and looks like the HOT ARMY guy I know.
Other than that I go back to work tonight and am kind of happy about it. I know that by being busy I will feel a little better.
I hope everyone is doing well. I am learning also from all of you that the power of prayer does work.

Thank you all!

Day 2 Still kickin

Hi everyone!

Two nights down and I am doin fine :) Heard from Jason today which made my day so much brighter! My dad is in from SC visiting and he heard my computer alert me that Jason was on. My dad came running to the shower room to let me know. I almost had a heartattack...
He looks great his hair is a little long but he is still our Jason! He said he has to sleep in a tent on a cot so it isn't very comfortable but he didn't sign up for the Airforce :)
He said I have to be careful what I post so I can tell you he is in Kuwait but he doesn't have an address and he may not for awhile. So for all of you who want to say kind words. Make comments or email him. I am sure he will appreciate it.
That is the news for today!

God Bless,

Love Jenna and Jason

Day one...Apart...

Hi everyone! Jason and I spoke about me creating a website where we could let you all know what was going on in our lives. So I started this blogspot. I have full intentions of post a blog at least once or twice a week more if time allows. Jason also said if he has the opportunity while he is deployed he will post blogs also but for now the information will come through me.
Also, feel free to post comments both Jason and I can view them and would love to hear from you all.
For those of you who don't know Jason and I ARE now MARRIED. We were married by the Justice of the Peace but still plan on having a church ceremony when he returns.
18 days later he has been deployed to Kuwait. Where he will wait to then go support OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom)
Today is my first day with out Jason since our marriage. I want to tell you all that it is hard for me to be without Jason. God has given me the most precious husband in the entire world and it is hard to let that person go. I will be ok though but really do enjoy hearing from everyone and knowing that you are all praying for his safety and a quick deployment.
Once I hear from Jason I will post his mailing address for everyone. I am also sure he will send out a mass email to friends and family and let them know what is going on.
Thank you all again for your support and love!

God Bless,

Jenna and Jason
